One Case of Pheochromocytoma in Childhood



Abstract
Pheochromocytoma is rare in childhood but must be considered in a child with hypertension or other symptoms of catecholamine excess. This tumor may arise from any chromaffin tissue. but it is most often found in the adrenal medulla.
We experienced one case of pheochromocytoma in 10 year-old girl, who had dyspnea, perspiration, chest tightness and dilated cardiomyopathy. Dignosis was made by clinical features. Elevated plasma catecholamine concentration, elevated urinary
catechloamine metabolites concentration in 24hrs, abdominal sonography and CT scan and pathological finding after surgical removal.
Successful surgical removal was done, and patient has been in normal blood pressure till now without subjective symptoms.
